About MJPRU – Rohilkhand University Bareilly

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), popularly known as Rohilkhand University, is the premier state-funded government university of the Rohilkhand region in western Uttar Pradesh. Established in February 1975 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, MJPRU is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and named after the great social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

As the affiliating university for the Rohilkhand region, MJPRU plays a dual role: it directly offers postgraduate, doctoral, and some undergraduate programmes on its own campus, and it affiliates 40+ degree colleges across Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, and Badaun districts. Virtually every government and private degree college in Bareilly — including the historic Bareilly College (est. 1837) — is affiliated to MJPRU.

MJPRU is the authority for conducting annual examinations, declaring results, issuing mark sheets, and awarding degrees to all students studying in its affiliated colleges. If you study at any government degree college in Bareilly, your degree is awarded by MJPRU.

⚠️ Important for Students: MJPRU does NOT directly admit students for BA, BSc, BCom undergraduate courses. These admissions are handled by individual affiliated colleges. Apply at Bareilly College or other MJPRU-affiliated colleges for UG courses. MJPRU directly admits for PG courses (MA, MSc, MBA, MCA, LLB, PhD) at its main campus.
